- Cath Lab Expansion
You keep world-class cardiac care close to home
When a heart emergency strikes, every second counts.
Thanks to donors like you, we’ve raised $5.3M of our $10.4M goal to expand our Cath Lab—bringing the first upgraded lab to life. Your continued support will complete the remaining renovations and build a third lab, expanding care for up to 11,000 patients a year when every second matters.
Because of your generosity, cardiac innovation is here
In the cardiac catheterization (cath) lab, every second counts. It’s where active heart attacks are treated in real time with minimally invasive techniques that restore blood flow—giving patients the best chance to recover sooner and get back to the people they love.
- Did you know?
WRHN is one of Canada’s leading cardiac centers, and local demand is growing rapidly. In 2025, our two cath labs performed nearly 6,500 procedures, with demand expected to reach 8,500 by 2028.
That’s why your support is so vital. Together, we are investing in the future by upgrading our existing labs and adding a third. Thanks to compassionate donors like you, the first phase of renovation is already complete.
With your continued partnership, completing these upgrades will allow care teams to treat up to 11,000 patients every year, expand access to complex procedures, and attract top cardiac specialists to our region.

Patient Story
Ron got his life back, and so can others
In November 2024, Ron Van Dam’s life was saved in the cath lab. After a workout, he started to feel short of breath. Ron collapsed, and his wife called an ambulance. When they arrived at WRHN, team members treated his blocked coronary artery with a stent.
Now, Ron is back to enjoying life with his 10 grandchildren. Grateful for the second chance donors like you help make possible, Ron now pays it forward every month as a donor to the WRHN Foundation.
We know what the future holds: an expanding and aging population that will not only require more cardiac services, but more technologically advanced procedures to treat complex cases. If we stay where we are, we’re already behind.
