WRHN Foundation and Manulife celebrate historic RedDAY
Special Feature
Preventative cardiac care got a big boost this year — thanks to Manulife and community members who supported an historic RedDAY fundraiser with WRHN Foundation.
The generosity of our community and Manulife shined this past June as WRHN Foundation introduced the new Manulife RedDAY Walk.
The event powered our fundraising total to nearly $505,000 for cardiac care at Waterloo Regional Health Network, including a $200,000 donation match from Manulife.
PREVENT
RedDAY fundraising efforts fuel preventative cardiac care at WRHN, giving patients tools and resources they need to help prevent heart disease.
We know that 1 in 12 Canadians are living with a cardiac condition, but we also know that up to 80 per cent of premature heart disease is preventable.
Programs like WRHN’s PREVENT Clinic are changing lives and saving lives, every day, thanks to community support.
“The generosity of Manulife, our RedDAY participants, donors, and the broader community is making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve,” says Al Qahwash, Director of Cardiac Care and Critical Care at WRHN.
“Through your support, the PREVENT Clinic can reach more people, identify and address cardiovascular risk factors earlier, and help prevent heart disease before a major cardiac event occurs."
Community support is essential to expanding access to prevention and ensuring more people across our region have the opportunity to live longer, healthier lives
Nearly 250 people registered for the inaugural Manulife RedDAY Walk on Sat. June 6 — a fun, upbeat fundraising walk through the heart of Kitchener-Waterloo.
The walk started at Waterloo Public Square on a beautiful Saturday morning and ended at the Manulife parking lot in downtown Kitchener — where a cheering section, lunch, and live music awaited participants as they crossed the finish line.
The PREVENT Clinic was established in 2024 with significant investment from Manulife. Each year since, Manulife has matched community donations on RedDAY to further support the clinic.
